Galway City Partnership (GCP) is a local and community development company working in Galway City. GCP have been in existence since 1996 and their aim is to tackle disadvantage and social exclusion – and focus particularly on helping those who are long term unemployed.

Galway City Community Network (GCCN) is a network of 168 community, voluntary and environmental organisations active in Galway City. GCCN is the main link through which the Galway City Council connects with the community, voluntary and environmental sectors. GCCN member organisations represent the network on a variety of bodies including the Council’s Strategic Policy Committees.
Established in 1994, Galway Traveller Movement (GTM) is an independent Traveller organisation in Galway City and County. The company has charitable status and is a partnership of Travellers and non-Travellers. GTM have worked for more than two decades to challenge and respond to the structural inequalities experienced by the Traveller community.
Founded in 2020, Shining Light Galway is a group of committed local residents who have come together to provide voluntary assistance to minority groups affected by poverty, particularly people living in Direct Provision. They tackle issues through direct actions such as the delivery of food rescued from waste (in conjunction with Food Cloud), redistribution of unwanted furniture items, free books for children, support with mental health needs and any other type of advice or assistance they can provide to marginalised people.
Galway Council of Trade Unions is an organisation representing trade unions across Galway.
AMACH! LGBT Galway aims to reflect equally the diversity within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community by encouraging positive participation from the community. They actively advocate to achieve a solid and safe support structure for the LGBT+ community in Galway. They aim to provide awareness, educational and training events and workshops, and endeavour to support and promote a socially inclusive society.
The Community Knowledge Initiative (CKI), is set out to underpin and realise a civic mission as part of University of Galway's core activities. The CKI was initially funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies and core funded by University of Galway in 2007. The CKI’s activities are viewed as ‘integral to the University's strategic mission and involved a fundamental examination of the role of the University in the social fabric' and are subsequently reflected as a core priority by University of Galway's Academic and Strategic Plans. The CKI aims to promote greater civic engagement through core academic activities, namely teaching, research and service at the levels of students, staff, courses, programmes and the institution as a whole.
The University of Galway has undertaken a series of strategies to develop, nurture, and sustain a welcoming environment on campus, particularly for those in Direct Provision and members of the Traveller community. These strategies encompass an on-going institution-wide response to the unprecedented global refugee crisis and low levels of participation in higher education among the Traveller community, and to provide access to higher education opportunities at University of Galway.
GARN are a radical grassroots community group committed to promoting racial equality and social justice. They are not tied to any political party or organisation, but work with other groups that share our goals. They believe that everyone deserves the same respect and rights regardless of origin, ethnicity, appearance or belief system. They oppose all forms of racism both locally and internationally. They want to gather people together to get the voice of change.
