Location: Westside Youth Project, Corrach Buí
The Westside Welcomes All community group was set up to create a space for Westside residents to come together. It was felt that this was needed as there was a lot of unrest and tension in the community regarding the housing of people seeking asylum in the area. Members of this group knocked on doors and had discussions with community members about this issue, and allayed fears and concerns about this. As a result, the group felt there was a need to organise an event which would be focused on welcoming those coming into direct provision, and others who may have migrated to the area from abroad. The Westside Welcomes All committee is therefore holding a free, family friendly event to welcome all newcomers to the Westside area.
We will have food, dance, music, sports, circus and tin-smithing workshops, and a free ice-cream van!
We welcome all members of the community, and we encourage Westside residents to attend to get to know others living in the area.
Come along to the Westside Youth Project, Corrach Buí, and in the event of rain the event will be moved to the Westside Community Centre.
